Are you afraid of fat?
Sadly it seems like many are. Fats (the right ones), are actually your friend. Fats fill you up, help you feel satiated, and help you go longer periods of time between meals. Fats help stabilize blood sugar, slowing down the release of carbohydrates. You can also use fats as a source of energy.
Saturated fats are the fats you want to eat. These fats are not going to make you fat. Saturated fats are very stable and remain solid at room temperature and turn into liquid above room temperature. These are the fats you want to use, especially when cooking. I’ve learned this all from health and nutritional coach Tracie Fountain. I’ve been enjoying good fats for years, why do you think I’m so happy, healthy, and have energy? I eat FAT!
SATURATED FATS
1. Butter
2. Dairy products containing fat
3. Coconut oil
4. Palm Kernel oil
5. Ghee
After more research, I found that coconut oil consists of more than ninety percent of saturated fats (hang on, don’t freak out, keep reading) with traces of few unsaturated fatty acids, such as monounsaturated fatty acids and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Tropical Traditions is the place to get it in many sizes and is the best source, all coconut oils are not the same. Spectrum and Dr Bronner’s is also a “clean” brand. Remember, not all things are created equal. Oh yea, one thing to remember, the unrefined tastes like coconut and the refined does not. So if you do NOT want the coconut taste, get refined. The pure coconut oil from Tropical Traditions does NOT taste like coconut. This is what I get in the gallon size.
Research shows that coconut oil is very useful in reducing weight. It contains short and medium-chain fatty acids that help in taking off excessive weight. It’s also easy to digest and it helps in healthy functioning of the thyroid and enzymes systems. It increases the body metabolism by removing stress on pancreases; thereby burning out more energy and helping obese and overweight people reduce their weight.

RECOMMENDED INTAKE OF COCONUT OIL
Tracie recommends consuming 2-4T of coconut oil a day. She also recommends starting out slowly. If you take too much at once it can have a laxative affect for some people. When I started using it, I instantly felt warmer, my body temperature went up and I had a ton of energy. My recommendation is not to have it at dinner or at night before bed, as I was up until 1:30am every night. I now have it in my morning and afternoon tea. Dr Mary Enig, international expert on fat and author of Eat Fat Lose Fat, recommends 6T a day.
Remember to focus on health, energy, and feeling better and the rest will follow.
