The ancient proverb – “You are what you think” couldn’t be more true!
We are our own worst enemy or best friend due to our self talk. It’s in those quiet and still moments when we agree with a specific feeling or we consciously reject a thought and turn it aside, overcoming it. Our thoughts are our realities.
Our mind is our greatest area to guard! Whether you can or can’t, you’re right! Most of the time it isn’t what you’re eating that is most important. It’s, what is eating you. Your attitude and positive perspective on life are tremendous protective and healing agents. Guard your mind and emotions from constant negativism. You can change your thoughts – you have free will, you choose to believe the positive or negative, the love or fear. Take a deep breath and choose life, love and goodness.
Habits formed come from our thoughts. Change your perception of yourself by changing your thoughts. It’s like building a muscle, we must work at staying positive and making positive decisions until it becomes a habit, a part of life, just like exercise does. What you choose in your mind, shows up in your words and on your body.
We control our brain, our brain does not control us.
TIPS FOR CHANGING YOUR STINK’N THINK’N
1. Practice positive words and self-talk. Talk to yourself like you talk to your best friend.
2. Look at problems as potential blessings and what lesson can be learned from it.
3. Write down your successes. What did you accomplish last year?
4. Say positive affirmations or statements daily. Write them out and post them on your bathroom mirror, on the fridge, in your car, etc.
5. Set SMART Goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely) and write them down. The clearer you are with your goals the more likely you are to reach them. Writing them down and in blue increases the success of them even more!
6. Look at the big picture – this moment might stink but it is just a chapter in your book of life – a season in your life, season’s change and soon you will flip to your next chapter of your life. It’s a moment in time, not forever.
