Helping a Woman: With Christmas soon approaching, I’m really excited to share about a company that LOVES women like I do! Have you heard of Trades of Hope?
Trades of Hope is a beautiful company on a mission to create sustainable, fair, living wage jobs for artisans around the globe, to help them rise out of poverty, provide for their families, send their kids to school and truly change their lives!
Did you know that…
- 40% of all women make less than $2.00 a day?
- In general, women are paid 25 cents to a man’s dollar.
- 70% of people living in poverty around the world are women.
- The primary victims of today’s wars are not soldiers; they are women & their children.
- There are over 22.5 million refugees in the world today. Half of them are children!!!
People around the world are not in poverty because they lack ability, but because they lack opportunity. Trades of Hope provides this opportunity! They partner with artisans in 17 different countries (including the United States) and work with 28 different artisan groups.
This beautiful young woman above, Pooja, lives in the slums in Mumbai India. She, her brother, mom and other sister sleep and eat on the same floor in a one room home. Can you even imagine that? I sure can’t. Let’s just sit and pause on that for a moment, shall we?
Education is not free in India and many women remain uneducated because if a family can afford to pay for school they send their sons not their daughters. Unreal, isn’t it!? That a girl is less valuable than a boy…
But guess what? Pooja has started working part time to make jewelry for Trades of Hope and is NOW a college student. Can you imagine what that means for her future?! Go God Go!
To help make a difference in the lives of women and children around the world, I’m hosting a Trades of Hope Facebook party starting November 11th. It will run through November 20th. So, no matter where you live or how busy your schedule is, you can still be a part of the party.
Click here to be added to the party.
I guarantee that the stories you hear will break and warm your heart all at the same time. It will help you pause for a moment and soak in the abundance that you have. That’s my prayer at least. 😉
If you’re unable to be on Facebook during that time or aren’t on Facebook, click here to learn more about Trades of Hope and how you can make a purchase.
You might be surprised at how adorable the jewelry, bags and decor really are. Not to mention the deep and powerful story behind each item.
May this Christmas be even more meaningful with each gift you give.
As always, Shine On,
Ali
