Here’s another workout that you can do in your hotel room, while visiting family, or if you don’t have a gym membership. And, one with NO TOYS (aka equipment), which means no excuses!
When I travel my workouts seem to NOT exist. It doesn’t matter if I’m traveling for fun or if I’m traveling for a fitness or life coaching event, the energy just doesn’t seem to be there at times. Do you ever feel this way?
Well…this is something I want to help you with. While recently vacationing in Play Del Carmen with my McSmeetchie, I did a couple hotel room workouts (for you and me). Body-resistance workouts are a great way to get or stay in shape. Just because you don’t have toys or a gym membership, doesn’t mean you can’t exercise and be in great shape.
Below is one of the full body workouts. It’s 25 minutes. As you will notice, you don’t need a lot of space.
WORKOUT
Set 1
1. Side Plank Touches
2. Sumo Plie Squats – hold, heel lifts, hold, pulse
3. Mountain Climber Twists
(repeat)
Set 2
1. Interval Planks
2. Walking Planks
3. Reverse Lunge Touch Hop
(repeat)
Make sure you take time to warm-up and cool down properly. If something doesn’t work for you or hurts, don’t do it. Listen to your body, it talks to you all the time..
MAKE A GOAL FOR YOURSELF
If the sets above are challenging, set a goal to get through one without stopping. Once you’ve mastered that, set a goal to get through the second one. Before you know it you’ll have made it through the entire 25 minute workout without stopping, how cool would that be!? And why wait! 3 months, 6 months, and next year will all arrive wether you exercise or not, so why not have more energy, feel better, and look better starting today!
TIP
Manage your expectations. Focus on progress not perfection. We all have to start somewhere. Instead of focusing on what you couldn’t do or how many times you stopped, focus on what you did do: a new move, exercising instead of sitting on the couch, doing 2 more push-ups than you thought you could, etc.
To get out of our comfort zones we need to let go of the control, and of the thoughts that tell us we should be perfect. Have fun! Laugh! Be silly! And celebrate your successes more than your “so called” failures.
Have fun and remember that you WILL feel better when you’re done.
Shine Brightly,
Ali
