Here’s another hotel room workout that you can do while traveling, visiting family, if you don’t have a gym membership, or if it’s too cold to go outside. It’s a workout with NO TOYS (aka equipment), which means no excuses! What you will need is a chair, a “can do attitude”, and your lovely self, that’s it!
Body-resistance workouts are a great way to get or stay in shape. Just because you don’t have toys or a gym membership, doesn’t mean you can’t exercise and be in great shape.
Below is one of my full body workouts. It’s 23 minutes. As you’ll notice, you don’t need a lot of space.
WORKOUT
Set 1
1. Caterpillar
2. Plank Knee Tuck Twist
3. Crab Walks
4. Lateral Leaps
(repeat)
Set 2
1. Split Squat with Elevated Back Leg
2. Dips
3. Knee to Nose
4. Heel Clicks
(repeat)
Make sure you take time to warm-up and cool down properly. If something doesn’t work for you or hurts, don’t do it. Listen to your body, it talks to you all the time..
MAKE A GOAL FOR YOURSELF
If the sets above are challenging, set a goal to get through one without stopping. Once you’ve mastered that, set a goal to get through the second one. Before you know it you’ll have made it through the entire 23 minute workout without stopping, how cool would that be!? And why wait! 3 months, 6 months, and next year will all arrive wether you exercise or not, so why not have more energy, feel better, and look better starting today!
TIP
Manage your expectations. Focus on progress not perfection. We all have to start somewhere. Instead of focusing on what you couldn’t do or how many times you stopped, focus on what you did do: a new move, exercising instead of sitting on the couch, doing 2 more push-ups than you thought you could, etc.
To get out of our comfort zones we need to let go of the control, and of the thoughts that tell us we should be perfect. Have fun! Laugh! Be silly! And celebrate your successes more than your “so called” failures. Failures are lessons to be learned.
Have fun and remember that you WILL feel better when you’re done.
Shine Brightly,
Ali
P.S. Enjoy another hotel room workout.
