For many, travel is a necessary part of life. Whether it’s for work, vacation, or visiting family for the upcoming holiday season, sticking to your workout routine could be challenging. However, there are many things that can help, and this workout is one of them. Whether you are pressed for time, have no access to a gym, or travel a lot, this suitcase workout below can help you stay on track, reduce stress, and give you some of the energy you’re desiring.
DIRECTIONS
Load your suitcase with enough clothing to make the exercises difficult. For some, an empty suitcase might be enough of a challenge.
EXERCISES
1. Suitcase Squat Press
2. Suitcase Alternating Reverse Lunge
3. Suitcase Single Arm Row
4. Suitcase Single Leg Glute Bridge
5. Suitcase Scissor
6. Suitcase Sit-Up (we didn’t show this in the segment, but keep holding the suitcase in the same position as you have it for the scissor exercise and sit-up reaching your suitcase to the sky.)
Do each exercise for 45 seconds and move unto the next one. After completing the circuit (all exercises which is about 6 minutes), repeat up to 6 times, depending on how much time you have. Remember, getting in even 10 minutes of movement is beneficial. Doing something is better than nothing. It’s all about being consistent.
Make sure you take time to warm-up and cool down properly, at least 5 minutes for each. As always, get your doctors approval before starting any fitness program or workout.
There are so many different exercises you can do with your suitcase, so feel free to add to this list.
Have fun and let me know if you have any questions.
TIP
Manage your expectations. Focus on progress not perfection. We all have to start somewhere. Instead of focusing on what you couldn’t do or how many times you stopped, focus on what you did do: a new move, exercising instead of sitting on the couch, doing 2 more push-ups than you thought you could, etc.
To get out of our comfort zones we need to let go of the control, and of the thoughts that tell us we should be perfect. Have fun! Laugh! Be silly! And celebrate your successes more than your “so called” failures.
Have fun and remember that you WILL feel better when you’re done.
Shine Brightly,
Ali
